His love of music was spawned and nurtured by his mother, who had a beautiful voice. She taught him Yiddish songs when he was a child.

Besides being a cantor, he has sung in many concerts, often as a soloist. The selections included Hebrew and Yiddish art songs, popular music as well as opera. His musical interests are varied, but they never included barbershop harmony.

Soon after he arrived in Florida, he became acquainted with a gentleman at the pool. As they talked Paul's wife mentioned that Paul was a cantor. The new friend invited Paul to go with him to a barbershop chorus rehearsal. That was about four years ago and a new Barbershopper was born!
